Job Summary
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including the dish washing machine, hand wash stations pot-scrubbing station, and trash compactor. Wash and disinfect kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock. Ensure clean wares are stored in appropriate areas. Use detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes. Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items, send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing. Rack and spray all racked items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue. Sort, soak, and wash/re-wash silverware. Breakdown dirty bus tubs. Empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area. Clean and mop all areas in assigned departments. Dispose of glass in the proper containers. Break down cardboard boxes and place them and other recyclables in the recycle bin.

Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications. Protect company assets. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Job Summary
A Steward carries out general cleaning duties and the operation of pot-washing and dishware machineries to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience while ensuring all back of house areas are kept clean and safety guidelines are observed.
What will I be doing?
As a Steward, you are responsible for carrying out general cleaning duties and operating pot-washing machinery to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. A Steward will also be required to ensure all back of house areas are kept clean, and observe Occupational Safety and Health and Hygiene Regulations and health and safety guidelines. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Operate pot-washing machinery and maintain a hygienic working environment in accordance with hygiene regulations and company standards
Carry out general cleaning as directed to include sweeping, mopping up, washing up, and emptying of rubbish bins and boxes ensuring placement in the correct containers
Ensuring that all kitchen and back of house areas are kept clean and all equipment within the kitchen area is cleaned in accordance with the cleaning schedule
Ensure the correct PPE is in place and guidelines are adhered to
Observe Health, Hygiene and Safety guidelines when handling hazardous substances and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety requirements
Report any maintenance and, or, hazard issues to the supervisor on duty
Carry out any other reasonable task set by the Hotel’s Management

Provide excellent customer service to visitors at all times, ensuring the smooth running of the daily operation of the ArtScience Museum.
Engage with the Museum’s visitors in a positive and professional manner, inspire and inform visitors of exhibitions and galleries within the Museum and proactively promoting ticket sales
Proactively working in (but not exclusive to) the Main Admissions and all Public areas of the Museum and other areas when required.
Assisting visitors with enquiries and where applicable directing them to the appropriate source of information.

Provide guidance and education to all casual staff in good museum practices.

To be fully knowledgeable on all Standard Operating Procedures & all exhibitions within the Museum.
Liaise with the Assistant Manager/Manager on daily and weekly roster patterns (inclusive of weekends & Public Holidays)
Provide verbal customer feedback. Suggesting ideas for improvement to the guest service experience.
Take on any other duties within the Museum, as the business requires.


Minimum Diploma in Tourism / Hospitality preferred or equivalent
Or a Certificate in Hospitality Operations from a recognized institution.
Prior experience in hospitality and tourism industry.
Excellent guest relations and communication skills
Prior working experience in the Museum environment is an advantage.
Keen to work in the museum, arts and culture industry, with a passion for learning and communicating the arts and sciences.
Motivated with high energy, able to appreciate a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Able to use good judgment and discretion and maintain calm demeanor in high volume or stressful situations.
